Bardell Wharf, Rochester
Corporation Street, Rochester, Medway, ME1 1NG
Mixed Use Residential Development
Playing a crucial role in the redevelopment of this historic quarter of Rochester.
Bardell Wharf redevelops an important site in Rochester from what is currently a cluster of derelict buildings into 374 high quality homes, across four separate buildings.
Along with significant public realm improvements, Bardell Wharf will introduce a vibrant new community into the heart of Rochester and will enjoy excellent connections to all essential amenities.
The changing colour of materiality reflects the rhythm of its surroundings, while the brick detailing on the adjacent Southern Block harks back to the Grade II listed former Country Court.
In this way, the scheme takes cues from its environs to blend seamlessly into the context, a patchwork of new and old.
Situated in the Star Hill Conservation Area and on an important junction in the centre of Rochester, the plans will transform a cluster of derelict buildings into much needed high quality homes. With significant heritage assets close to the site, the design demanded a sensitive and considered response. The design team achieved this with a deliberate choice of materials, brick hues, massing, and detailing.
