Mixed-Use Residential Development

A vision is for a sustainable, high-density, mixed-use affordable housing scheme, overlooking the River Avon.

  • Sector: Mixed-Use Residential

  • Features: Circa. 240 homes

  • Client: Donard Homes

A landmark 7-10 storey building, comprising of quality homes on the upper levels, and modern commercial space, together with amenity space at ground floor.

The proposal will act as an enabling site for the wider regeneration of the area into a residential led mixed use quarter.

The overall blocks have been designed to make reference to the surrounding context and local historic and contemporary architecture. The scheme is mindful to
avoid the type of monolithic scale and mass that is referenced in the Yeamans House and other buildings of that period. It is therefore important to break up the overall block forms through building usages, material choices, and use of pitched roof forms. As a result the building is broken up into three clear parts.

Our approach and aim for the landscape and public space at York Gate is to embed the new homes and businesses within a distinct hierarchy of landscape and street characters; establishing a new permeability across the site an improved streetscape and creating places for nature.
